Heidi Play – A Swiss Tradition Brought to Life
Experience the charm and heart of the Heidi Play, a beloved tradition performed by local youth as part of the annual Heidi Folk Festival in New Glarus, Wisconsin. This heartwarming performance brings the classic Swiss tale of Heidi to life on stage, celebrating our heritage, community spirit, and the creativity of our younger generation.
Join us for one of two performances on Saturday, June 14th at the New Glarus Fest Haus – a fully indoor, accessible venue located at 119 6th Ave. Showtimes are 11:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., with each performance lasting approximately 45 minutes.
Admission is $5.00 at the door (children 4 and under are free). All proceeds support the Heidi Folk Scholarship Fund, helping local students continue their education. Advance donations for entry are welcome and encouraged.
Limited-edition Heidi Play merchandise will also be available on-site, with all profits going toward future festival programming and scholarships. Donations can also be made directly via QR code posted at the event.
And yes—live goats will make a special appearance during the performance, bringing a fun and authentic alpine touch to the story you know and love!
As a special treat (weather permitting), the Green County Humane Society will also have adoptable kittens outside the venue, adding a little extra joy and the chance to meet a new furry friend.
This family-friendly event is part of a full weekend celebrating Swiss heritage and coincides with the Beer, Bacon & Cheese festivities—so we recommend arriving early for parking.
Come for the culture, stay for the heart—and help us celebrate this uniquely New Glarus tradition. 🐐🇨🇭🎭⛰️
